E-Learning Module:
How to make a Lesson Plan

I designed and developed an e-learning module on How to make a lesson plan for a mock summer camp company. The course included interactive scenarios, knowledge test, and simulations to help learners practice and apply the concepts. The course received positive feedback from SMEs in Training, UX design, and Graphic Design.

How to Make a Lesson Plan

Responsibilities: Instructional Design, eLearning Development
Target Audience: New Coaches for

a summer camp company
Tools Used: Articulate storyline,

Adobe Illustrator, Canva

Overview

This pilot project is inspired by a personal experience from a previous role as a summer camp coach. I used ADDIE to assess the need for this module. And used myself and a few colleagues (other coaches) from that job as SMEs.

The job took on experienced and new coaches who were considered to be experts at their respective programs for example, basketball, soccer, coding, cycling and arts and crafts. during the training days the coaches were asked to make and deliver a Lesson plan. The only problem? no one knew how to make one.

thus this inspired me, to make a module on how to make a lesson plan now that I have the background and knowledge of making it as an educator.

Process

I used ADDIE to consider the relevance of this project, was it  relevant and needed? is it solving a real world problem? does it have to be an eLearning module?

As for the relevance, as the SME for this project, looking back on the coach role that I had this would have been helpful for me to know how to make a lesson plan and I would have had concrete written plans as to how I will deliver my lesson for the weeks of the summer season, thus it solves a real world problem. I chose for it to be an eLearning module so that the coaches can interact with it, learning, having a knowledge check and getting their certificate prior to starting as a coach will enable the company to know that their coaches have engaged with the information and are ready and equipped for their programs.

Action Mapping

This Action Map shows the process of what will come out of the business goal. Increasing 10% of enrollees for the summer camp company as they will be able to present the lesson plans made by the coaches.

and from the learner's/ target audience side this will help them have a guide on how to deliver a lesson plan which is expected from them by the business.

Text based Story Board

My Text based storyboards are simple easy to read and easy to edit incase SMEs need to add information or edit them and it shows the sequence of how the module will be delivered and what information will be put, what kind of scenarios and questions will be shown and some notes.

Full Development

I designed and developed this module using Articulate storyline, making the logo of the mock company on Adobe Illustrator and Canva.

During the process I have made the interactive prototype and reached out to Graphic Designers, User Experience Designers and Trainers on their feedback with the module. I got feedback with color themes and the overall experience of the learner, I then applied all the feedback onto the full development of the project.
